6 month old sweetness!!!

I have gotten a little behind on posting lately and while there are lots of images that I want to share from past sessions, I just had to post this cutie from a few weeks ago! 6 months is really one of my favorite ages to photograph- they smile, they laugh, and they are still somewhat immobile, which makes for lots of great photo opps! I had the pleasure of photographing this little guy when he was just a few weeks old. Time just seems to be flying by! Well it is going to be hard to pick just a few images from his session, but I am going to try...

And he fell asleep...

This has been a favorite session of mine to date. This family was absolutely fabulous and the images turned out so great! When the little one fell asleep, his mom put him in his chair, and the family dog walked up and licked his foot! It's these precious moments that I am so happy to be able to capture and share. The weather was great the day of our session, and I had the best time photographing this awesome family!

Studio Lighting

I have been a huge believer that natural light is the one and only way to photograph, so I surprised myself when I signed up for Jeremy Igo's ( http://www.jeremyigo.com/blog/ ) studio lighting workshop. After seeing a bunch of his images, I was so intrigued to find out just how it was done- and I am so glad I did. Jeremy was an amazing instructor and the class was unbelievable!!! Not to mention that fact that our model was gorgeous! I learned an incredible amount in just a few hours and am now ready to purchase my own lighting equipment :) I see many bridal portraits in my future with my new skills... On a side note, I am still a firm believer in natural light and will continue to do most of my work this way. But, when the time is right, studio lighting can add a new dynamic dimension to images. Take a look-

Puppies...

Okay, so they're really more full grown dogs than puppies, but all pooches are puppies to me! I had my first "pet" session and it was a blast! We rolled around in the yard and snapped lots and lots of photos. In the future, I will wear a black shirt instead of a white one though, so as not to show all of the mud that comes with rolling around in a yard trying to keep up with furry friends :) Did I mention the workout that I got that day? They were really perfect models for me, and I captured some great images. Thank you for your talent Miss Pheobe and Miss Lucy!

AJP on I77 Southbound!

If you happen to be driving down I77 Southbound just before the SC border, look up to the right to see the Baxter Village billboard featuring a photo from Amanda James Photography! I had been taking photos for the neighborhood, but was quite surprised to see my image on a billboard yesterday evening when Stephen and I were driving home from dinner. I had to go back a couple of times to make sure it was really real! Stephen drove us out there again today so that I could snap this image :)
